RACE WEEKEND TRAFFIC AND PARKING INFORMATION

Many of the downtown Monterey and Pacific Grove streets will be closed in the early morning on Saturday, November 9, and Sunday, November 10.  View the 5K/3K map and the Half Marathon map.

SATURDAY RACES, November 9By-the-Bay 3K & Pacific Grove Lighthouse 5K

FOR LOCALS:  Parking restrictions will be in effect from 4 am to 10 am. There is NO PARKING along the waterfront on Ocean View Boulevard and Sunset Drive between 17th Street (Lovers Point Park area) and the ocean-end of Lighthouse Avenue at the Pacific Grove Golf Links.

During the course of the event, from approximately 6 AM to 10 AM, the road will be closed in both traffic directions on the waterfront on Ocean View Boulevard and Sunset Drive from Lovers Point to Pt. Pinos. Residents who live along Ocean View Boulevard that may need to exit during the race should pre-park a vehicle on a nearby side street for egress.

Residents along Mermaid Street and guests of Borg’s Inn and Lovers Point Inn may exit and enter on Mermaid at Sea Palm.Vehicles will be allowed to drive against the stated direction in order to exit the area.

FOR RACE PARTICIPANTS:  Runners and walkers in the 5K and 3K events can park in public city lots or on neighborhood streets. Be sure to note any parking enforcement signs and hours.

SUNDAY RACES, November 10– Monterey Bay Half Marathon

FOR LOCALS:  Del Monte Avenue between Camino El Estero and Figueroa in downtown Monterey will be closed to traffic beginning at 3 AM. All other downtown city streets, including the Custom House Tunnel westbound (toward Pacific Grove) will be closed by 6 AM. All downtown Monterey city streets should be reopened by 9 AM.

The Cannery Row area from the Coast Guard pier/San Carlos Beach area beyond the Monterey Bay Aquarium will be closed until 11 AM.

The Pacific Grove downtown area will be closed between 6 AM and 9 AM. Ocean View Boulevard. and Sunset Drive will be closed between 6 and 11 AM.

FOR RACE PARTICIPANTS:  Complete parking information is available in the RACE WEEKEND PARTICIPANT GUIDE (available in early November). The downtown Monterey Custom House Garage is available for parking until 5:30 AM and after 9 AM (free until 11 AM). Free shuttles (both ways) to a drop off near the start are available from Monterey Peninsula College and Del Monte Center between 5 and 6:15 AM. A runners’ drop-off area is also designated on Pacific Street in front of Monterey City Hall. Race participants can also view the Monterey street closure information to learn more.
