THE 2020 RACE HAS BEEN CANCELLED

The 2020 Monterey Bay Half Marathon, originally scheduled for Saturday November 14th, has been cancelled. There will NOT be a virtual event. The Big Sur Marathon Foundation’s governance board made this difficult decision to cancel the in-person road races as they continued to monitor updates on large events from county, state, federal, and international public safety and health agencies during the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. 

Our highest priority is always the safety of our participants, volunteers, friends and family, and residents. There are so many unknowns both with this virus and with the effects of it on large events. We were also very concerned about having access to needed public safety and medical officials, volunteers, and personal protection equipment and supplies during this ongoing crisis. INFORMATION ABOUT THE 2018 MONTEREY BAY HALF MARATHON CANCELLATION AND DEFERRAL OPTIONS

2018 entrants who choose the 2020 Deferral Option following the cancellation of the 2018 Monterey Bay Half Marathon will be sent information on how to register for a future Monterey Bay Half Marathon once it is again safe to hold in-person events.

All entrants from the 2018 Monterey Bay Half Marathon who chose to defer to 2020 will be given the option to switch their deferral to 2021 or 2022. Those entrants should expect to receive additional direct communication from race organizers regarding registering their choice option.

If you didn’t register your deferral cancellation option choice or don’t remember what you did, email the registrar for assistance.

If you would like to change your cancellation option choice to a different year, email the registrar to make this change.

In consideration of the environment, we do not offer a paper entry form. If you prefer to pay for your entry using a check or money order call 831.625.6226 or email sally@bsim.org and we will advise you on how to proceed.
